Subclass 485 Replacement stream opened on 1 July 2022. Eligible applicants can apply online and can be in/outside of Australia. To be eligible, current/ previous subclass 485 visa holder (Main Applicant) must have lost time on their visa because of Australia’s COVID-19 travel restrictions and being outside of Australia while holding subclass 485 visa anytime between 1 February 2020 to 14 December 2021. Application for this stream must make before 1 January 2027.
The federal government announced proposed significant changes in partner visa (Permanent Stage) eligibility. These changes have not been implemented yet and most probably they will come into effect in the middle/ end of 2021. What are the proposed changes? Applicants and Sponsors will be required to pass the English language requirement only for the Permanent stage partner visa (subclass 100/820). Whilst the level of English is not yet determined, it most likely is a basic English test. The applicant may need to show functional English (IELTS band score 4.5. no less than 4 on each band).
From 1 July 2022 subclass 457 visa or subclass 482 visa holders can be nominated and apply for Permanent visa subclass 186 and 187 through the TRT program.
